Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale has claimed that the Spanish league is the best in the world right now and it has been proven by the arrival of James Rodriguez. The Monaco striker has been signed by Madrid for £ 71 million, thus making him one of the world’s most expensive players. He was the best player at the World Cup and this was acknowledged by the 23-year-old winning the Golden Boot award. He scored five goals and helped Columbia reached the quarter-finals of the competition. Rodriguez was also wanted by the likes of Manchester United, but the entry of Real Madrid made it difficult for every other club to sign him.
As a result of this huge transfer, the top four players in the world play in Spain. Rodriguez is the fourth most expensive player and he is only behind Luis Suarez. Suarez is the only player in the top five list not to play for Madrid. Spanish league also houses several stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. In contrast, the Premier League has likes of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie. The signing of Rodriguez has been followed by the £ 24 million arrival of Toni Kroos, who was yet another excellent player at the World Cup 2014.
The German international was also wanted by United. “The Spanish League is the most exciting and the world’s top players play there. Barcelona or Real Madrid are always there, near the Champions League final or winning it. The Premier League is a great league but we are attracting the best players to La Liga. It is great to be involved in it [UEFA Super Cup]. There is a special touch for me because the Super Cup is in my home town. We will be going for everything but no team has retained the Champions League. We want to do that,” said Bale.
