Tottenham winger Gareth Bale has said that Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam is a coward after he deliberately tried to injure the player in a friendly match between Liverpool and Tottenham in the United States. Both the clubs are currently in the pre-season tour of the United States and were playing in a friendly match.
Charlie Adam and Gareth Bale, however, have history of coming together. The former Blackpool defender has been accused of injuring the Welsh midfielder deliberately on two occasions in the past and he did so this time around as well, according to the former Southampton winger.
Gareth Bale suffered a serious injury after the friendly match and is likely to know how long the injury will keep him out. The Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas was involved in a war of words with the Liverpool midfielder after the end of the 0-0 match. Gareth Bale has said that he certainly feels that Charlie Adam did the tackle on purpose with the sole intention of injuring him, which he has already done in two separate incidents in the past. The Scottish midfielder moved to Liverpool in a £ 9 million deal only last season, but had a very poor season as the club finished in the eighth position.
“He’s obviously come for me twice now – and he’s got me twice. From what I’ve seen of him on the pitch, I think he’s a bit of a coward. There are pictures on the internet of what he did before when he snapped all my ankle ligaments. I was out for three months that time and one player told me he went out to do the same thing to me again. It’s flattering when players try to take you out in a game, but when it threatens your career it becomes more serious than that,” said Gareth Bale after the match.
